You'll provide thought leadership to an enthusiastic team of 10, providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to lift capability and confidence of the regulatory system.
Your work will span multiple work areas – commercial, legal, and operational – and touch every part of the business.You'll be instrumental in : Designing and developing operational policy and procedures for DOC's regulatory systemEmbedding consistent practices and tools across the motuBuilding machinery of government expertise across the teamSupporting delivery of Ministerial priorities across Regulatory ServicesLeading a team through change, and navigating complex, sometimes challenging, policy terrainEnsuring our operational policy function supports DOC's evolving regulatory role.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceWe're looking for a pragmatic professional with deep expertise in regulatory environments and an understanding of how government works.
You'll be commercially savvy, intellectually curious, and confident engaging with iwi, stakeholders, and senior leaders.You'll also bring : Proven experience in operational policy leadership, ideally in a regulatory or government settingStrong strategic thinking and analytical skillsAbility to coach and develop others, and lead with influenceExperience working across complex systems and navigating sensitive issuesA collaborative mindset and commitment to DOC's values and Treaty obligations.Given the collaborative nature of the role, you will be office-present most days to enable cross functional engagement.
