## Mo tenei turanga mahi | About this roleThe Ministry of Health - Manatu Hauora (the Ministry) is seeking candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as

  • health practitioner OR layperson
  • members of the of (the Board).

The Board is a Responsible Authority under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act

  • (the HPCA Act).
  • The purpose of the Board is to protect the health and safety of members of the public by ensuring that medical imaging and radiation therapy practitioners are fit and competent to practise.

    Appointments to the Board are made by the Associate Minister of Health Hon Matt Doocey, typically for terms of up to three years.

    Members can be reappointed for up to nine consecutive years.

  • For all applicants, governance and / or regulatory experience is a plus but not required.
  • It is beneficial if you have the ability to lead strategically, and to balance competing demands.

    In this instance, we are particularly looking to receive applications from medical imaging and radiation therapy candidates who can represent the perspectives of Maori, Pacific people, and people with lived experience of a disability.

  • Health practitioner
  • members must be a registered Medical Imaging or Radiation Therapy practitioner with a current practising certificate.
  • You will be in good standing with the Board.

    It would be helpful if you have a good understanding of the scopes of practice, competencies and code of ethical conduct for medical imaging and radiation therapy practitioners, and we welcome applicants who have experience in the clinical practice, management or quality sector, or applicants who are early in their clinical career.

  • health practitioner

  • Nuclear medicine technology experience
  • Medical imaging technology skills and experience
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology experience
  • Under section 5 of the HPCA Act,
  • laypeople
  • applicants cannot be qualified or registered as health practitioners.
  • Preferred laypeople candidates will also have :

  • Legal expertise
  • Financial expertise
  • Governance experience
  • Consumer advocacy expertise
  • Please note that members of a Responsible Authority board cannot simultaneously be a member of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (the Tribunal) given the disciplinary function of the Tribunal over health practitioners.
