Hiringa Oranga O Awarua Limited - Awarua Whānau Services is seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader Whānau Services + Social Services Practitioner to guide our Whānau Services team. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on practice, ensuring whānau-centered, culturally responsive care is delivered through Whānau Ora Navigation and Social Work.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and professional development support to navigators and social workers.
- Lead planning, reporting, and evaluation processes to ensure contract compliance and service quality.
- Support the development of whānau care plans that reflect aspirations, strengths, and cultural identity.
- Promote integrated, holistic services across health, housing, education, employment, and wellbeing.
- Carry a negotiated caseload and contribute to program delivery.
- Foster a positive, culturally safe team environment grounded in kaupapa Māori values
Our Ideal Candidate
Holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Humanities, Education, or Psychology (or is working towards one).Has at least 2 years’ experience in the human services sector, including direct case management.Understands Te Tiriti o Waitangi and kaupapa Māori frameworks.Has experience in supervision and knowledge of intimate whānau violence.Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.Is committed to culturally safe practice and continuous improvement.Mō Mātou / About Us
