ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Southern Volunteer and Foster Lead to join our National Volunteer and Foster team.

Based in the South Island and working closely with local SPCA Centres, you'll lead and grow our regional volunteer and foster programmes, ensuring consistency, engagement, and excellence across the volunteer lifecycle.

This newly created role will see you working at both a strategic and operational level : developing systems, supporting Centre teams, and ensuring our incredible volunteers and foster families have the tools, training, and recognition they need to thrive.

You'll also collaborate on national initiatives that shape the future of volunteering and fostering at SPCA.

This is a permanent, full-time role :

40 hours, Tuesday–Saturday 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm

Hybrid role,with at least two days per week onsite.

Must be based near a Southern SPCA Centre (Greymouth, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin or Invercargill)

You'll be responsible for :

Leading, supporting, and empowering Centre staff, volunteers, and foster families

Driving consistency and quality across volunteer processes, training, and engagement

Supporting national initiatives and implementing projects in the South

Analysing data and insights to improve volunteer and foster experiences

Building strong relationships with Centre teams and external stakeholders

Championing SPCA's values and creating a culture where volunteers and fosters feel recognised, valued, and supported

You will also have :

Proven experience in volunteer management, community engagement, or similar leadership roles

Strong skills in systems, project, and data management

Excellent relationship management and communication skills

Demonstrated expertise in organisation and strategic planning

The ability to lead, coach, and influence across multiple teams and stakeholders

A collaborative, values-driven approach with resilience and empathy

A full, clean NZ driver's licence and flexibility to travel across the region
