The opportunity - Te āheinga

We're looking for a Senior Finance Partner to join our Finance and Planning team at NPDC, reporting to the Finance Partner Lead.

This is a pivotal role where you'll provide proactive financial and commercial advice to support strategic decision-making across the organisation. You'll help strengthen the Council's financial accountability by enhancing reporting systems and frameworks and ensuring the delivery of accurate, relevant, and timely financial information.

• Development of annual plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
• Ensure performance against budgets is continually monitored and reviewed
• Development of financial models and analysis to support business cases, investment decisions, and service delivery improvements
• Support the development and implementation of performance metrics and KPIs to monitor financial and operational outcomes
• Support and help with development of finance partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and service excellence
• Champion continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and business partnering practices
• Support the Systems Accountant in the development and maintenance of the Council's financial systems
• Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment of financial information and reporting
• Assist with the development of the Council's accounting policies, practices, systems, and documentation
• Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
• Chartered Accountant or similar qualification
• Minimum of five years' post-qualification experience in financial management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Sound system skills and experience working with ERP systems
• Experience in Local Government Accounting and Finance
