Ready for Your Next Challenge as a Senior Registered Nurse? Step Into a Role with Purpose, Growth and a Passionate Team.

We're seeking Senior Theatre Nurses with proven surgical nursing experience within our dynamic Operating Theatre team.

As a Senior Registered Nurse, you’ll lead by example—delivering outstanding care, supporting your colleagues and playing a key role in maintaining our high clinical standards. You’ll be part of a tight‑knit, professional team in a hospital that values integrity, innovation and excellence. If you are an experienced Theatre Nurse and seeking to grow your career, then this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for!

  • Work in a modern, well‑equipped hospital with a reputation for excellence
  • Permanent full‑time or part‑time hours available
  • Flexible shift patterns – 8, 9 or 10‑hour days, Monday to Friday, with very occasional Saturday shifts

What we're looking for :

  • A strong background in perioperative nursing and confidence to step into a Key Nurse position
  • A desire to develop into a leadership position
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to exceptional patient care and safety
  • A proactive, quality focus and a commitment to delivering best practice
  • Flexibility to work extra hours as required
  • Ability to work well within a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team
  • A current New Zealand Practicing Certificate
  • At Kensington Hospital, we are committed to supporting and investing in our staff's personal and professional growth and development. We offer exciting possibilities to reach your full potential, through comprehensive in‑house training and education, backed with nationally recognised qualifications. This is a career‑enhancing opportunity not to be missed.

    What We Offer :

  • Comprehensive induction programme
  • Nursing Council approved PDRP and achievements rewarded with remuneration
  • On‑going personal development including subsidised professional training courses and conferences
  • 20% discount on hospital costs plus an external staff benefits programme
  • Wellness programme and incentives
  • A supportive, professional, caring and pro‑active team
  • Long service leave entitlements
  • Planned annual closure over Christmas and New Years
  • Annual staff Christmas functions and other hospital celebrations
  • Who are we?

Kensington Hospital is a well‑respected private surgical hospital based in Whangārei, proudly serving the wider Te Tai Tokerau region. We provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a modern, supportive environment. Currently operating five theatres and a 21‑bed (17‑room) inpatient ward, we’re growing with expansion on the near horizon. We are a dynamic, values‑driven organisation with deep roots in the Northland community and a reputation for clinical excellence.

While we’re proud of our clinical excellence and reputation, we also recognise that our role in community health goes beyond treatment – it includes caring for people, respecting the environment, acting with integrity and being a responsible member of the community we are part of.
