Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Applications are invited for a 12-month fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Mathematics Department at the University of Auckland.

The project is to work alongside one of our Professors on their project "Fingerprints of wild chaos : from theory to practical relevance".

The postdoctoral research fellow will work on a subproject concerning the dynamics of partially hyperbolic endomorphisms, that is, discrete-time dynamical systems with non-unique backward-time behaviour.

Knowledge of the theory of partial hyperbolicity and experience with non-invertible dynamics are essential.

The fellow will also be expected to deliver lectures in the Maths Department, covering both Pure and Applied Mathematics, and will have the opportunity to participate in departmental activities, including equity and outreach initiatives.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community, undertaking high-quality research, contributing to teaching and postgraduate supervision, and participating in departmental service and outreach activities.

The role is designed to support academic career development and includes opportunities to build a strong research portfolio with potential for external funding.

Publish in reputable journals and present at conferences.

Participate in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching (typically no more than one course per year).

Co-supervise postgraduate students.
