rugby season and year-round venue hire events.These roles offer flexible evening work ideal for students, hospitality workers, or anyone wanting additional income in a fun community environment.
We are now recruiting :
Casual Bar Staff (with occasional Duty Manager shifts for qualified staff if needed)Casual Kitchen Cook / Hand1) Casual Bar Staff
Rate : $28 / hour
Hours : 4pm–12am, mostly weekends, 2–6 shifts per month
What You'll Do :
Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks during club nights, match days, and private eventsDeliver excellent customer service to members, visiting teams and guestsCheck ID and ensure compliance with NZ alcohol laws and host responsibilityProcess EFTPOS and cash transactionsAssist with opening / closing duties, restocking, and cleaningHelp clear tables and support basic event setup / packdownMonitor patron behaviour and escalate concerns appropriatelyMaintain a tidy, safe, welcoming bar environment at all timesWhat We're Looking For :
Must be 18+ and legally entitled to work in NZHospitality experience is helpful but not essential — we can trainFriendly, reliable, confident working evenings / weekendsComfortable with money handling (or willing to learn)Good communication and common sense in a busy environmentWhen a Bar / Duty Manager Is Required :
For some events, we need a Duty Manager to supervise the bar.
Must be 20+Must hold an LCQ and (ideally) a Manager's CertificateDuty Manager shifts are paid at a higher rateYou may be rostered as Duty Manager when required if you hold the qualification(This allows one person to work both standard bar shifts and Duty Manager shifts when needed.)
2) Casual Kitchen Cook / Hand
Rate : $28 / hour
Hours : Saturday evenings, approx. 4pm–10pm, with occasional extra events
We are also seeking someone to prepare simple, hearty meals for teams and patrons on club nights. All food, cooking and cleaning equipment will be provided by the club.
What You'll Do :
Cook the post-match Premier team meal each Saturday (e.g., lasagne, pasta bakes, shepherd's pie)Prepare bar-style food through the night (hot chips, burgers, wedges, nuggets, etc.)Ensure food is cooked and served safely and hygienicallyKeep the kitchen clean, organised, and stockedWork with bar staff to deliver meals—help is provided for servingFollow basic food safety and health & safety proceduresWhat We're Looking For :
Some kitchen / cooking or café experience is preferredAble to work independently and manage simple food preparationConfident using ovens, fryers, and basic kitchen equipmentReliable — the Premier team meal is a key part of Saturday operationsGood attitude, teamwork, and communication skillsWhy Work with UCRFC?
