Job description
KPMG is one of the most trusted and respected global professional services firms. Through depth of expertise, clarity of insight and strength of purpose we help our clients solve complex problems, steer change, strengthen, transition and grow. We are looking for talented people who share our purpose of inspiring confidence and empowering change for our clients, our people and our communities. The consulting environment at KPMG is dynamic and fast-paced, offering diverse opportunities to work on challenging projects with leading organisations across various industries. As a consultant at KPMG, you will be part of a collaborative team that provides strategic insights and innovative solutions to help clients address complex business issues and drive growth. You will work with experienced professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality services and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. We’re inviting expressions of interest from experienced asset management professionals who want to help lift outcomes across Aotearoa’s infrastructure portfolios. This EOI is not for a single role—it’s to build a pipeline of talent for upcoming engagements across a variety of sectors, including local government, utilities, and transport.

The opportunity:

  • With capital tightly constrained, assets ageing faster than they can be renewed, and growth pressures mounting, organisations can no longer rely on incomplete data or historic assumptions to guide investment. Choosing between refurbishment, life extension, or new growth infrastructure now demands a far clearer, more evidence based understanding of future demand and the true condition, criticality, and performance of the asset base. A modernised approach to asset management — built on better data, connected technology, and sharper intelligence — is essential to drive value, reduce risk, and meet regulatory and customer scrutiny.
  • This is where you come in: you will help clients lift the way they plan, develop, and manage their infrastructure assets so they can make smarter, more sustainable just as importantly, you will help shape our practice—building client relationships, identifying new opportunities, mentoring others, and positioning our asset management capability to lead in a rapidly evolving market.

Day to day you will:

  • Deliver client engagements from scoping through to delivery, managing timelines, budgets, risk, and client expectations while bringing your subject matter technical depth to solve real problems
  • Build trusted relationships with client leaders across asset intensive organisations like councils, CCOs and utilities, navigating regulatory reform and other business challenges.
  • Leverage KPMG’s global network of infrastructure and asset management professionals and build strong relationships with our Infratech alliance partners to bring leading insights, tools, and technologies into client solutions.
  • Bring clarity to ambiguous cross-sector problems and identify key opportunities that may unlock client value, improve delivery, or generate innovative solutions.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to practice development—including thought leadership and proposal support.
  • Leverage AI assisted methods and intelligent automation to improve how we interpret data, surface insights, and streamline delivery for clients.

What you'll bring to our team:

  • Depth in asset management (8+ years desirable) across one or more sectors (water, energy, transport, local government).
  • Tertiary qualifications in business disciplines ( engineering, property, planning) are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective engagement with executive stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Practical experience with accepted asset management standards (ISO55000), asset performance/risk models, and investment planning.
  • Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand’s infrastructure sector and legislation or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire and apply this knowledge within transformation environments in other jurisdictions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for executive and non technical audiences.
  • Commercial acumen and delivery discipline in consulting contexts.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand, with valid work rights.
How to express interestPlease share a short note on your focus areas (, asset strategy, analytics, resilience), recent engagements, and preferred locations, along with a CV or LinkedIn profile link.Recruitment Agencies: The recruitment for this role is being managed directly by the KPMG Talent Acquisition team.
