Become a GirlGuiding Leader Leeston

GirlGuiding is all about empowering young people to develop confidence, leadership, and life skills. That means heading outdoors, adventuring locally, learning new things, and having fun by getting stuck in.

We’re looking for volunteer leaders in the Leeston community to support the next generation through weekly activities, planning sessions, and occasional camps.

As a Volunteer Leader, you will :

  • Inspire and encourage tamariki to reach their potential and try new things
  • Be hands‑on, enthusiastic, and patient
  • Join a supportive team and be part of a worldwide movement
  • Commit to weekly unit meetings during school terms, plus planning and occasional weekend events

  • When you apply, we’ll be in touch to discuss which section best suits your skills, interests and availability, as well as the needs of our local units.

    There is no cost to you to volunteer with GirlGuiding NZ. You’ll need to be 18 years or older for health and safety requirements. A driver licence is helpful, but not essential.

    This role requires 23 hours per week during school terms to plan and run activities, plus occasional extra time (24 hours) for preparation or camps on weekends.

    Training

    We provide free training, which all volunteers complete as part of our programme, along with free First Aid courses and outdoor skills training offered periodically.
