About the role

As the Pest Management Safety Advisor, you'll support our field and operational teams to work safely across the Mt Messenger project area.

You'll spend much of your time out on the whenua — coaching teams, embedding good safety practice, and ensuring we meet the highest standards of care for our people, our taiao, and our communities.

Your work will help shape a proactive safety culture and strengthen iwi leadership as Ngati Tama prepares to take full responsibility for pest management operations by

What you'll bring

Diploma (or working towards) in Health & Safety, with audit and / or ICAM training

2–7 years' experience as a Health, Safety & Environment practitioner in a high-risk industry (e.g. infrastructure, construction, forestry)

Practical experience with audits, corrective actions, risk assessments, injury management, and safety reporting systems

Working knowledge of legislation and critical risk frameworks

Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills

Confidence to influence and take action when safety is at risk

Ngati Tama whakapapa or strong connection to the region is an advantage — reflecting the importance of iwi leadership and connection to whenua within this kaupapa

The offer

Salary : $84,000 – $108,000 p.a., depending on experience

Work : Full-time permanent role, based in North Taranaki (around 60% field-based)

Purpose : Help build Ngati Tama's long-term capability to deliver safe, effective pest management across our rohe

Support : Ongoing training and development with the Alliance's Safety team and mentoring to advance your career in H&S

This role may require occasional overtime or night shifts to align with operational needs.
