Au Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Campus Support Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of all students, staff, and visitors at the University of Canterbury.
Based in the Security Control Room, you will be the first point of contact for emergencies, provide customer-focused support, and coordinate operational security and parking services across the campus.
Your responsibilities will include :
Responding to phone and walk-in enquiries with professionalism and empathy.
Issuing parking permits, managing fleet and master keys, and supporting Canterbury Card and Cardax access.
Monitoring the 24-hour CCTV and access control systems.
Coordinating emergency responses and liaising with emergency services.
Supervising after-hours security operations and contracted security staff.
Managing lost and found property and maintaining accurate incident records.
Supporting campus events and emergency preparedness training.
You are a dedicated and experienced professional with :
1–2 years' experience in security, facilities, frontline services, or another relevant role that demonstrates awareness of safety, incident response, or operational procedures.
At least 2 years' experience in a customer service–focused role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to exceptional service.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
A full NZ driver's licence.

You will be part of the UC Security team, which provides a comprehensive 24 / 7 service across our campuses.
Reporting to the Campus Support Officer Supervisor and Security Manager, you will work closely with Facilities Management and other key stakeholders to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.
