About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to help build a newly expanded service and make a difference in Northlands cancer care.
You will provide Physics support across the Radiation Oncology service, gaining significant experience in clinical development projects and the implementation of new techniques and technologies.
You will become part of the wider Northern Region networked Medical Physics team.
The Auckland department uses state-of-the-art equipment in line with worldwide developments.
Exciting current projects include the construction of a new brachytherapy suite, installation of the third of four new Varian TrueBeam linacs with HyperSight imaging, and commissioning of VisionRT surface guidance.
As a Medical Physicist, you will be fully supported by our experienced regional team, and theinitial training and orientation may be based in Auckland before transitioning to Whangarei for the launch of the new facility in

About the Team / Service / Location
The Radiation Oncology service is an integral part of Te Puriri o Te Ora Regional Cancer and Blood Service, with a dedicated team of Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists, Radiation Oncologists, and support staff delivering approximately 48,000 radiation therapy treatments annually across the Northern Region.
Now, we are taking a significant step forward by expanding our service to include Northland, with the construction of a new $60.9 million radiation therapy facility in Whangarei.
The centre will feature a Varian TrueBeam linac with HyperSight and SGRT, an additional bunker (allowing for future expansion), a Siemens X.Cite CT scanner, RayStation Treatment Planning System, ARIA OIS, and additional chemotherapy spaces.
Once complete, this will provide life-changing access to cancer treatment for hundreds of Northlanders who currently travel to Auckland for care.

Te Puriri o Te Ora is the name that has been gifted to our northern regional cancer and blood services by Kahurangi Rangimarie Naida Glavish of Ngati Whatua, Chief Advisor Tikanga for Te Toka Tumai Auckland.
Te Puriri o Te Ora means "the Puriri tree of wellbeing" and speaks to the many qualities and gifts of the Puriri tree and our aspiration to provide a place of healing and wellbeing for our communities.
Te Puriri o Te Ora is the biggest cancer and blood service within Aotearoa, providing care to approximately 40% of the country.
We provide a wide range of services including Medical and Radiation Oncology, Haematology, Awhinatia Te Tangata (specialist Maori Health team), Cancer Support Team (specialist psychological and social support), Research, Genetics Services, and the NZ Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Service.

To be considered, you will be a qualified Medical Physicist (ACPSEM Certified ROMP or international equivalent).
A passion for delivering high-quality, evidence-based Medical Physics will be essential to your success.
Your strengths in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team are highly valued, particularly your ability to collaborate closely with clinical colleagues.
