Whangarei District Council is busy implementing changes and working on new initiatives aimed at better serving our community.
To support us in this exciting phase in our development as an organisation we are looking for an experienced leader to provide leadership and advice on the development of Council's document and information management policies, process, and systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the team responsible for developing and implementing appropriate monitoring and reporting on Council's document and information management practices as well as ensuring the effective operation of the Council's information and document management processes & systems in support of business objectives, including :
Responses to requests made under the Local Government Official Information & Meetings Act
Archives management
Retention & Disposal
Training and user support (EDRMS & Information Management)
Quality Assurance
System developments, maintenance and upgrades.
If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role and are keen for us to consider your application, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following attributes :
Experience in a leadership role within the public sector or information management sector
Understanding or ability to develop understanding quickly of relevant legislation eg; Public Records Act, LGIOMA, LGA, Privacy Act
Ability to successfully lead a team, motivating and mentoring staff
Ability to think critically and develop creative solutions to problems
Ability to work methodically and efficiently and to set and meet appropriate standards and deadlines
Ability to communicate technical information clearly with a varied and broad range of stakeholders
Ability to work effectively with others through development of strong working relationships and provision of clear well thought out advice
