Freshpork NZ is a family-owned business, passionate about producing quality New Zealand pork products.

We have been delivering New Zealand pork to Kiwis for over 40 years and are the country's leading Pork specialist.

With over 150 staff operating from 4 sites, we are committed to the long-term sustainability of the NZ pig industry, through continual investment, innovative processing and products that provide fresh, high quality NZ pork products to New Zealanders.

At Levin we process over 4,000 pigs per week.

The core functionalities of our teams at the Levin production facility include a Cutting Floor, Value Add (VA), Cold storage and Logistics.

This role oversees the Cutting Floor, Value Add and Cleaning teams of 26 people who work a variety of shifts.

About the role

Reporting to the GM of National Production and working closely with the Coldstore and Logistics Supervisor, and together with a direct team of Supervisors / Team Leaders you will ensure day-to-day production activities are carried out in an efficient, safe and fully compliant manner.

You'll oversee aspects of the processing plant, teams including the Cutting Floor creating primals, the VA team creating our shelf ready products including small goods such as sausages and our Cleaners ensuring high quality standards of cleanliness.

You'll also manage our site maintenance program and external contractors.

You'll understand and manage the balance between production throughput, food safety compliance, and the health, safety and wellbeing of our people.

You will be a proven leader able to motivate and inspire teams.

Your hands-on approach will see you on the production floors throughout each day, supporting and influencing staff and leading by example.

In this high impact role, you need the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment and plan ahead to meet targets and solve problems.

What you will need

As an experienced Supervisor or Manager in manufacturing management in the meat industry, you'll have a fusion of excellent managerial, technical and interpersonal skills.

Proven experience leading a team to succeed and enhancing a cohesive continuous improvement culture.

Be forward thinking, a proven planner with keen problem-solving skills and excellent time management.

Excellent communication both verbal and non-verbal, using your active listening to enable your team and share success across the business.

Dedication to ensuring high standards of quality control and health and safety, managing critical risks.

Managing HACCP food control plans, RMPs and other food safety systems and SOPs.

A hands-on approach to our training programs and associated paperwork.

Analyse and critically assess where efficiency can be improved; and take action.

Computer and numerical literacy and experience creating reports.

Be competent in MS Office suite, particularly Excel.

Experience processing payroll requirements for your team.

Attention to detail and record keeping.

Perform well under pressure.
