Chef – Indian Cuisine (Canterbury Region)

Position Type : Full-Time (30–40 hours per week)

Pay Range : $25 – $35 per hour (depending on experience and skills)

About the Role

Himkhand Limited, a well-established Indian restaurant business in the Canterbury region, is looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of Indian cuisine, spices, and traditional cooking methods to showcase their expertise in an authentic culinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning menus and creating authentic Indian dishes.
• Estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
• Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Preparing and cooking a variety of Indian meals, including curries, tandoori dishes, and breads.
• Demonstrating techniques and advising on Indian cooking procedures.
• Explaining and enforcing hygiene and food safety regulations.
• Discussing food preparation and service matters with managers, dietitians, kitchen, and waiting staff.
• Freezing and preserving foods where required.
• Selecting, training, and mentoring kitchen staff.
