About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to lead District Emergency Management service delivery and support response functions across the Tairawhiti district.

Lead the delivery of nationally designed and regionally enabled emergency management workplans across districts, supporting system development, stakeholder engagement, and progress reporting.

You'll provide expert advice, facilitate training, and work in partnership across the health and disability system to ensure strategic resilience priorities and legislative obligations are met.

About the Team / Service / Location

This role sits within the Health, Wellbeing, Safety & Organisational Resilience team in the People & Culture team.

You'll be part of a national network of emergency management professionals, working closely with district leads and regional teams to strengthen our emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

About you

You'll bring proven experience in leading the delivery of emergency management workplans across diverse teams and priorities, with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and emergency management legislation.

Your inclusive leadership style, strategic thinking, and ability to inspire and engage others will support a resilient health system.

You'll also have the technical capability to work across digital platforms, deliver training, and be able to quickly build strong relationships via

A relevant tertiary qualification and / or comparable experience

The ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at district level, and across other government agencies

Knowledge and application of Coordination Incident Management System (CIMS) or ability to obtain within 6 months

Demonstrated understanding of the Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Act
