What do our Graduate Water Resources Scientists / Engineers do?
As a Graduate Water Resources Scientist or Engineer , you will be working on a broad range of local and international projects aimed at safeguarding our communities from flood hazard and protecting our environment. Whether it’s managing flood risk, conducting hydrological assessments to support hydro power projects, or managing the water quality of stormwater discharges, we’ve done it before.
You will work in the detail of our projects so that you can develop your science or engineering skills solving real world problems that are impacting our communities.
We expect that you would primarily be based in Stantec’s Petone office to work alongside our senior Water Resources Scientists and Engineers, with the opportunity to relocate part or full-time to the Wellington office once you gain more experience.

You will be a recent graduate with a tertiary qualification in Earth or Environmental Science, Physical Geography, or Environmental Engineering, ready to kick start your professional career! You are motivated, pragmatic, and have an appetite for learning and gaining experience across various disciplines and geographies.
You will have a strong interest in Water Resources. Given the diverse nature of this discipline, you will have the flexibility and enthusiasm to engage in a wide range of projects. This may include technical tasks such as data analysis and modelling, as well as projects that demand strategic thinking, workshopping, multidisciplinary teams and the potential for community engagement.
