Overview

Permanent | Full-time | Auckland (Ellerslie)

Aroturuki Tamariki | Independent Children’s Monitor provides oversight of the oranga tamariki system. We check that organisations supporting and working with tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) in the oranga tamariki system are meeting their needs, delivering services effectively, and improving outcomes. We do this by listening to the experiences of those in the system and analysing data, to provide insights that will drive continuous improvement for tamariki and rangatahi – particularly tamariki and rangatahi Māori and tamariki and rangatahi with disabilities.

We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Team Coordinator (Kairuruku Tira) to join our Auckland-based team. This role is central to supporting our monitoring teams—based in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch—and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality administrative support including travel bookings, calendar management, stakeholder coordination and event planning.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and induction processes.
  • Assist with financial administration and guidance in your local office
  • Managing the purchase of supplies and operational resources.
  • Help develop and improve systems and processes to support team efficiency.
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives that enhance our operations.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience managing administrative and coordination tasks across multiple teams and locations.
  • Familiarity with government systems, including travel and finance processes.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys problem solving and improving systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Initiative, judgment and a drive to get things done.
  • Experience in implementing mini projects to improve efficiency.

    Salaries are negotiated based on relevant skills and experience and we expect to offer a starting salary of between $68,660 and $79,058. Some travel will be required.
