Job description

Purpose of the Role :

To prepare accurate, competitive, and compliant estimates for Henderson Demolition's projects.

This role supports tender success, commercial clarity, and strategic growth while embedding psychosocial safety and ethical pricing practices.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; or Level 6 Diploma in Construction or relevant field

Experience in estimating for construction, demolition, or industrial services

Strong understanding of NZ pricing structures, ISO standards, and risk assessment

Proficiency in estimating software and Excel-based pricing tools

Police vetting and drug / alcohol clearance required

The employee may work at multiple locations & involve regular travel to various sites in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland and Waikato, as determined

Must be physically fit.

Must have a drivers licence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Estimating & Tender Preparation

Develop detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and scope breakdowns for demolition, asbestos, and hazardous materials projects.

Analyse drawings, specifications, and site conditions to inform accurate pricing.

Liaise with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors to validate costs and methodologies.

Support bid submissions, capability statements, and pricing strategies to strengthen tender outcomes

Risk & Compliance

Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and risk factors in tender documentation.

Recommend contingency allowances and value-engineering options.

Ensure all pricing aligns with legislative, ISO, and client requirements.

Maintain a central database of rates, suppliers, and historical benchmarks to support consistency and transparency

Health, Safety & IMS Responsibilities

Ensure estimates reflect safe work practices, environmental controls, and quality standards.

Comply with all IMS procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Participate in audits, management reviews, and tender debriefs to improve cost accuracy and system performance.

Promote psychosocial safety by managing workload, communicating clearly, and supporting inclusive team dynamics.
