Job description

(Please note : We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role and will require the applicant to be based in Auckland, New Zealand.)

About Auror

At Auror, we’re empowering the retail industry to tackle theft and Organised Retail Crime, a $150 Billion problem globally. It’s high volume crime that’s increasingly organised in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day.

Founded in New Zealand 11 years ago, we’re working with some of the best and largest retailers in the world across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Auror is connecting people and intelligence to reduce crime. We’re using technology for good.

In partnership with our leading retail partners, we need people with the passion, determination, and innovation required to overcome one of the world's largest problems. If you’re looking to make a difference with and for the people dedicated to stopping crime, for good, then we want you on our team.

We're also embracing the potential of AI to supercharge our impact, whether that's enhancing the way we detect trends, support our customers, or improve internal workflows. As a company, we're committed to responsibly incorporating AI into how we work and what we build, and we encourage all Aurors to be curious about how AI can elevate their work, regardless of role or function.

The Role

As a Workplace IT Specialist at Auror based in our Auckland office, you’ll help power our people and technology, keeping our global team connected, secure, and productive every day. You’ll be hands‑on with everything from troubleshooting hardware and software issues to implementing smart, scalable systems that make life easier for everyone at Auror.

Working closely with our Global Workplace IT Lead, you’ll improve our IT operations, roll out new technologies, and help shape the way we support our people across the world. This is a role where your technical expertise and proactive approach will make a visible difference, every single day.

Due to the nature of the role, you will also be required to be in‑office 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday). There will however be some flexibility where needed.

Practically, what you’ll do :

  • Be the go‑to person for on‑site support, while helping our global team with remote troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and SaaS application issues (think Google Workspace, Microsoft Intune, Slack, and beyond).
  • Administer and optimise enterprise tools like Intune, Google Workspace, and Azure / Entra ID.
  • Maintain our physical and virtual tech environments, from laptops and AV setups to networking and cloud systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Intune, Slack).
  • Manage our hardware and software inventory, keeping everything secure, tracked, and well‑documented.
  • Own onboarding and off‑boarding, ensuring every Auror starts and finishes strong with the right tools and access and that they have the best workplace IT experience.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver reliable solutions that support productivity and security.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, introducing smarter technologies and better processes.
  • Champion AI‑driven efficiencies in IT workflows, helping the team experiment, learn, and adapt.
  • Keep our documentation sharp and accessible, making it easy for others to follow best practices.

You will be reporting to Oliver Parker, Global Workplace IT Lead

I lead Auror’s global Workplace IT team, where we support more than 250 team members globally.

Over the past few years, I’ve helped shape Auror’s Workplace IT into a proactive, strategic partner to the business. This has ensured that Auror’s IT is fully operational from an IT standpoint, helping improve cybersecurity, automation, and infrastructure that make a real difference to how we operate. As part of the team, you will find that no two days are the same, in this fast paced environment you will be troubleshooting support tickets, investigating security alerts and working on projects that improve team member experience and productivity as a whole.

Outside of work, I enjoy running, spending time with my family and friends and supporting the Warriors. Check out my LinkedIn here.

What you'll need to know :

  • 3+ years of experience in an IT support, service desk, or internal tech operations role.
  • You love helping people and you’re known for your calm, friendly, and solution‑focused approach.
  • Confident supporting remote and distributed teams across time zones.
  • Thrive and feel comfortable working in a fast pace environment.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Intune, Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure / Entra ID, Windows, macOS, and network management.
  • Strong security mindset, with an understanding of best practices for endpoint and access management.
  • Comfortable leading small projects or process improvements from idea to delivery.
  • Communicate clearly, ability to translate technical concepts into language everyone can understand.
  • Experience with meeting rooms and AV technologies.
  • Curious by nature : you love exploring new tools, learning from others, and finding better ways to do things.

  • Understand that great IT is about more than just systems, it’s about creating a seamless experience that empowers people to do their best work.
  • We are looking for people who demonstrate a strong alignment to our Guiding Principles (you can find these on our Careers page).

Auror is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible application process to all candidates and we are actively working to improve diversity within the tech industry. We celebrate diversity and inclusiveness at Auror, regardless of (but not limited to) race, gender, sexual orientation, family status, religion, ethnicity, national origin, physical disability, veteran status, or age.

If you need adjustments to any part of our recruitment process because of accessibility reasons, please do not hesitate to let us know during the application process. We will work with you to identify adjustments that will allow you to perform at your best.

  • Competitive salary Range : Depending on level of experience of IC2 ($78,000 - $95,000NZD)
  • Employee share scheme : You’ll own part of a company making a real difference!
  • Flexibility : We are hard‑working and outcome focused, but recognise there is more to life than work. We promote a healthy work / life blend.
  • Shorter work weeks (at full pay) : Everyone gets Friday afternoons off, so you can start your weekend early, and do more of whatever it is that makes you happy.
  • Health Care Plan : In partnership with Nib, Auror covers 100% of the cost of your individual health insurance plan.
  • Focus on mental and physical health : We understand how vital our health is and have policies to support your wellness, including : Wellness Days, and up to three expert sessions paid for every year.
  • Family-friendly : We offer comprehensive parental leave and benefits for primary and non-primary caregivers, including a baby bonus and meals delivered to your door.
  • Personal growth : We support our team to participate in courses, conferences, or events that will help them develop their skills.
  • Team love : We have regular team lunches and social events where most (if not all) activities are during work hours.
  • Next steps :

If you’re excited about our mission and you have the experience and a passion for this role, please hit “Apply”.

If you’re not sure that you tick all the boxes but feel you’re close to what we’re looking for, please apply anyway! We’re proud that Auror is a place where everyone can learn and grow so we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be asked to submit a cover letter as part of your application. While this is optional we do encourage it, as we find cover letters can tell a story that resumes alone often cannot. Our hiring team love to understand what attracted you to this role and why you are excited about the opportunity to join Auror.

Once you apply, you’ll hear from us to acknowledge your application. If you have questions about any of the above, or if you have any accessibility requirements, we’ll be able to help you from there.
