OverviewEnvironmental microbial genomics and antimicrobial resistancePosition detailsProfessor Naresh Singhal's research group is recruiting three fully funded PhD students to join a cutting-edge Marsden-funded project investigating how environmental stressors drive antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in freshwater ecosystems.

This interdisciplinary project integrates experimental microbiology, multi-omics, bioinformatics, and ecological interventions to uncover and mitigate mechanisms of AMR spread.

Each PhD student will tackle a distinct but interconnected research objective within our collaborative team, gaining expertise in advanced sequencing technologies, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and quantitative microbial analyses.QualificationsThe ideal candidates should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related fields with a strong background in environmental microbiology.

Experience with DNA sequencing methods and bioinformatic sequence analysis is essential, along with prior experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while possessing excellent communication skills.
