Volunteer Shuttle Driver – St John Health Shuttle (Thames)The St John Health Shuttle is a lifeline for many in our Thames community, providing a free, essential transport service to help people attend vital medical and health-related appointments.
With over 65,000 trips made annually, this service is invaluable for older adults, individuals who are too unwell to drive, and those without access to other transport options.As a Volunteer Shuttle Driver, you'll play a crucial role in helping clients get to their appointments safely, comfortably, and on time.
This is a customer-focused position where your care and empathy can truly make a difference in someone's day.Key ResponsibilitiesDrive the St John Shuttle vehicle safely and responsibly, transporting clients to and from medical appointments.Provide a warm, welcoming, and supportive service for all passengers.Assist clients as required — from offering a steadying hand to those who are mobile, to physically supporting those who need more help.What We're Looking ForEmpathy and compassion – You'll be interacting with people who may be unwell, elderly, or facing personal challenges.Physical fitness – Some passengers may need assistance getting in and out of the shuttle, so you'll need to be physically capable and comfortable offering support.Reliability and punctuality – Clients depend on this service to get to appointments on time, making dependability a must.Training & Support ProvidedAll volunteers receive full training, including how to safely operate the shuttle, assist clients with mobility needs, and follow basic first aid and safety procedures.
You'll also have ongoing support from the local St John team to help you feel confident and well-equipped in your role.Ready to Get Involved?
