  • About us

At Community Connections, we believe everyone deserves to live the life they choose, on their own terms and in their own community. We are a North Island–wide disability support provider, guided by our vision of an inclusive Aotearoa where barriers are removed and every person is valued.

Our mahi is guided by our values — Honour People & Their Stories, Build Capability, Check it’s Right, and Celebrate Diversity, Challenge & Success — together with our commitment to Mana Waiora, which upholds identity, connection, and self-determination. We are grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and dedicated to supporting people with disabilities from all walks of life to live the lives they choose.

    The Role

We are seeking a passionate Support Worker to empower individuals with complex disabilities and help them achieve independence. Your role will involve daily support in personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks for an active individual who enjoys walks, swimming, and an energetic lifestyle. You’ll be part of a compassionate team providing 24 / 7 residential support in a safe and engaging environment. This is a part-time position of 48 hours per fortnight, worked on a rotating roster.

  • Week 1 : Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 2 : Monday, Saturday, Sunday
  • As the roster includes weekends, flexibility to work weekends is required.

    About You

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Support Worker to assist an individual who leads an active lifestyle, enjoying daily walks of 5 to 10 kilometres and swimming in pools and the ocean.

The ideal candidate should be able to keep up with this level of activity and possess strong time management and problem-solving skills. Experience with individuals displaying challenging behaviours and a solid understanding of autism and intellectual disabilities is highly desirable. You should feel confident participating in daily walks (5–10 km) and be comfortable around water.

We are seeking a motivated team player who can follow support plans and assist the individuals we serve in living their best lives. Our goal is to create a workplace where everyone can thrive and contribute to the best of their abilities.

    What we are looking for

  • Ideally, you will have experience in personal care, particularly with individuals who have challenging behaviours, autism, and intellectual disabilities.
  • The ability to follow support plans and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to empowering individuals to live their best lives.
  • Why Join Us

At Community Connections, we provide a supportive team environment where you can work alongside like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the community we support.

We value your dedication and hard work, and in return, we offer a range of benefits, access to an Employee Assistance Program, a weekend rate, and various opportunities for training and professional development.

If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference every day, we want you to join our team.

    Please note

We require candidates to possess a valid FULL New Zealand driver’s licence and the legal right to work in New Zealand. Additionally, candidates must be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks and must hold a first-aid certificate.

These criteria are essential for the nature of the role and the level of care and support we provide to our community. Therefore, we will only be shortlisting candidates who meet these requirements.
