Underground Geotechnical Technician (Start ASAP)

Join OceanaGold as an Underground Geotechnical Technician managing underground stability and geotechnical monitoring at Macraes mine.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include :

Conduct QAQC on ground support per the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP), including audits and testing of ground support materials.
Install and maintain underground geotechnical monitoring systems such as convergence points, Cyclops, MPBX, smart cables, and LiDAR scanners, ensuring proper servicing and calibration.
Perform daily inspections of underground environments including active headings, stopes, blast performance, ground support, hazards, and structural features.
Respond to critical monitoring alarms following SOPs and TARPs.
Prepare ground support rehabilitation plans based on performance, operational needs, and risk.
Comply with the site GCMP and Principal Hazard Management Plan (PHMP) for Ground Instability under senior geotechnical staff direction.
Maintain communication with geotechnical, geology, mine planning, operations, and management teams.
Perform all work safely and in accordance with company standards.

About You

The company is looking for :

A recognised degree in Geology, Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, or equivalent tertiary qualification is highly regarded but not essential.

Full and current driver licence with ability to drive manual vehicles.

Good fitness level and ability to manually handle loads of 20kg or more.

Previous underground experience is advantageous but not essential.

Competency with 3D mining, geological modelling, and database software such as LEAPFROG, DESWIK, MICROMINE, VULCAN, MINESIGHT, and ACQUIRE is advantageous.

Experience with geotechnical software like DIPS and UNWEDGE is advantageous.

Excellent computer skills including report writing, presentations, spreadsheets, and database management.
