Application Specialist - Digital Workplace

Are you passionate about enabling a modern digital workplace? As our Application Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting and evolving the platforms that underpin Kiwibank’s employee experience. You’ll work hands-on with a range of technologies, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to deliver secure, stable, and future-proofed digital environments. You’ll be responsible for supporting existing systems, leading new technology deployments, and acting as a technical liaison across the business. Your proactive approach to application support and troubleshooting will help keep our mission-critical systems running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

Key role responsibilities

  • Business Alignment & Improvement : Align business needs with tech capabilities, identify opportunities to improve system performance, processes, and user experience across core systems.
  • Technology & Innovation : Stay current with emerging tech, bring fresh thinking, and deliver secure, reliable, user-friendly solutions that support our people and customers.
  • Collaboration & Leadership : Build strong stakeholder relationships, take ownership of initiatives, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
  • Capability Uplift : Mentor others, support team capability growth, and actively contribute to our Product practices.

Key skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Strong project experience and stakeholder management, with proven business engagement skills.
  • Experience using ADO (Azure DevOps) or Jira, and ticket management tools (ideally ServiceNow). Experience as a System Admin or Engineer ideally in an enterprise-scale environment.
  • Knowledge of endpoint management, including Windows 11, Microsoft Intune and Mobile Device Management (MDM), core infrastructure tools and services, including Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in an Agile DevOps team, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting production systems, including incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with capacity planning, application performance tuning, and security hardening.
  • Comfortable working with documentation, change control processes, and maintaining institutional knowledge.

  • Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 (W365)
  • Understanding Conditional Access (CA) policies, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM / MECM)
  • Basic PowerShell or scripting knowledge
