Principal / Senior Scientist (Oncology Discovery), EDDC

At EDDC, our goal is to discover and develop novel therapeutics by working collaboratively with public sector and industry partners. EDDC now has an opening and is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Principal / Senior Scientist in the Oncology Discovery team. The successful candidate will provide strategic and scientific leadership for inter‑disciplinary drug discovery oncology projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team working on the discovery of novel therapeutics and engaging in preclinical drug development from target exploration and validation to drug candidate selection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership : Provide visionary direction and lead a team of cross‑functional scientists to drive the discovery of novel biologics for solid tumors, setting research priorities, goals and objectives.
  • Target Identification : Lead efforts and incorporate innovative approaches to identify and validate novel oncology targets, leveraging multi‑omics analysis of clinical patients’ datasets and preclinical models.
  • Compound Development : Develop a holistic and robust screening workflow for evaluating preclinical efficacy and safety of biologics. Oversee the screening and characterization of biologics compounds, collaborating closely with the antibody technology group.
  • Assay Development : Develop and drive the creation and supervision of cellular assays including flow cytometry, internalization, immune cells‑mediated cell cytotoxicity (e.g. ADCC, TDCC), T cell proliferation, cytokine analyses, and reporter assays for target validation and functional characterization of biologics. Supervise molecular cloning, stable cell‑line generation, CRISPR / Cas9 genome editing, siRNA / shRNA knockdown and qPCR.
  • Data Analysis : Implement state‑of‑the‑art data analysis packages and interpretation approaches to make informed decisions in the therapeutic drug discovery for biologics.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure the research activities adhere to applicable regulatory guidelines and standards, supervise laboratory housekeeping, safety check, SOP writing and participate in regulatory submissions as required.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. oncology / immuno‑oncology, immunology, pharmacology) with extensive experience in oncology‑focused drug discovery in biologics modalities.
  • Minimum 8 years of working experience with proven leadership experience, including managing scientific teams in the biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong knowledge of molecular and cellular oncology, genetics, cancer biology, with expertise and in‑depth understanding of drug discovery and development of biologics.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to make informed decisions based on data and research insights.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and collaborative spirit.
