Senior Technician- Civil and Environmental Engineering

Join to apply for the Senior Technician- Civil and Environmental Engineering role at University of Auckland .

We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Technician to join our Engineering team. You will support the staff and students across various technical operations essential to research activities. You will demonstrate technical expertise and have health and safety knowledge to guide others. You will contribute critically to safety in a dynamic and busy industrial environment.

This is a full‑time, fixed‑term 12‑month role, 37.5 hours per week. Salary range : $72,000 – $77,100 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Essential qualifications

  • Trade certificate or degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in fabrication with wood and metals.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including implementing safety practices in your work.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with concrete, timber or steel structures or materials testing.
  • Experience operating gantry cranes, forklifts, knuckle booms and scissor lifts.
  • Skills in maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of essential electronic equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to analyse, research, learn, and adopt new methods and techniques for research projects and teaching activities.
