The opportunity

The NZ Gas Operations Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management and reconciliation of Visy’s New Zealand gas portfolio. This role ensures accurate nominations, settlements, compliance with market rules, and provides operational support to the Energy Trading team. Strengthens gas operations capability and reduces business continuity risk by establishing a dedicated local presence in New Zealand to support customer-facing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily / weekly / monthly reconciliations per NZ market rules.
  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance reporting.
  • Operations Support : Manage gas transport nominations and scheduling.
  • Liaise with pipelines, counterparties, and market operators.
  • Support billing, settlements, and variance analysis.
  • Serve as the operational contact for NZ customers and service providers.
  • Provide assurance on supply reliability and reconciliation.
  • Build relationships with shippers, regulators, and pipeline operators.
  • Risk & Business Continuity : Provide redundancy for AU-based operations.
  • Identify and escalate operational risks or anomalies.
  • Document processes and support team knowledge sharing.
  • Process Improvement : Recommend efficiencies to reduce costs and risks.

What you will bring to the team

  • Experience in the energy, gas operations, or utilities sector (NZ market knowledge preferred).
  • Understanding of gas nomination, reconciliation, and settlement processes.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and liaise confidently with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and operational systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the NZ gas market.
