Anatomic Pathology Service (APS), part of Te Whatu Ora, provides specialist diagnostic histology and cytology services to Auckland and beyond. We process specimens from over 4,000 private specialists, surgical hospitals, and general practitioners. To support this breadth of work, our Consultant Pathologists collaborate closely with an experienced team of scientists and technicians to deliver high-quality, timely results for patients and clinicians.

The Role

Based in our Histology Team at Mt Wellington, this role covers the full spectrum of routine histology, including :

  • Specimen receipt, frozen sections, and cut-up
  • Embedding, microtomy, staining (routine and special stains)
  • Direct immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and quality control
  • Participation in the on-call roster
  • Potential to roster into specialised dissection (training provided if required)

    About you

    We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist with :

  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (see )
  • Previous experience in histology (essential)
  • Experience in dissection (advantageous, but training provided if needed)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-focused approach
  • A commitment to quality, accuracy, and patient outcomes
