Due to internal promotion (our current head of science has been promoted to a fixed-term deputy principal position), we're seeking an inspirational curriculum leader to take the reins of our science learning area (Y9–13) and build on strong foundations.
Lead a collaborative science team across junior and senior programmes (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics), fostering high expectations and equitable outcomes for all learners.
Steer the department confidently through the incoming curriculum changes and the NCEA change programme - aligning programmes, pedagogy, and assessment.
Oversee course design, assessment schedules, internal / external moderation, data-informed review, and continuous improvement.
Manage budgets, resources, laboratories and equipment, and provide professional guidance and appraisal for staff, including the science technician.
Contribute actively to whole-school leadership through our curriculum forums and initiatives.
You are a registered, experienced secondary science teacher who :
Brings proven curriculum leadership and a track record of lifting student achievement.
Is confident leading change—translating national policy shifts into clear, classroom-ready practice.
Models culturally responsive pedagogy and builds purposeful, supportive learning environments.
Is highly organised, data-literate, and adept at mentoring and developing teams.
