Job description

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, cooking, seasoning, garnishing and presentation of dishes.
  • Design, plan and price menu based on customer preference and seasonality.
  • Train and manage kitchen staff. You may also involve in hiring kitchen staff.
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that relevant health codes, food handling practices and the food control plan requirements met.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed. Minimise waste and manage food costs efficiently.
  • Regulating temperature of Tandoori oven and other cooking equipment, utilising techniques to freeze and preserve foods.
  • Liaising with front of house staff to ensure smooth customer service.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to minimise waste and ensure freshness of ingredients.
  • Ability to estimate food and labor costs to maintain profitability for the restaurant.

Requirements

  • 2 years of cooking experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in an Indian cuisine.
  • Having a relevant qualification will be an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Culinary technique with knife skills and cooking methods.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
