With over 4,500 people across the motu, we put safety first, work as one team, and contribute to a stronger, more connected future.As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll take the lead in designing, maintaining, and assuring civil infrastructure that underpins New Zealand's rail network.You'll manage investigations, designs, approvals, and project delivery for formation and rail and road interface designs.
You'll provide expert advice to both internal teams and external stakeholders, helping to balance engineering excellence with cost-effective, sustainable solutions.This role offers the opportunity to shape a safe, reliable and sustainable national infrastructure.We're looking for someone with both technical expertise and a collaborative approach.
You will bring : 10+ years' professional experience in civil engineering, including formation and subgrade designStrong knowledge of relevant design codes, standards, and legislationExperience in horizontal infrastructure upgrades and geotechnical constructionFamiliarity with asset management systems and engineering analysis toolsThe ability to prepare and submit council consent applicationsUnderstanding of railway infrastructure (desirable)A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (Engineering New Zealand accredited)Chartered Professional Engineer status or working towards it (desirable)Postgraduate qualifications in Civil Engineering (desirable)Personally, you'll be : Safety-focused, with integrity in all you doA clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiencesCalm and adaptable in changing situationsA team player who supports others and shares knowledgeCommitted to continuous improvementYou'll also need a current NZ driver's licence and the ability to pass regular drug and alcohol screenings.Nou te rourou | What's in it for youAt KiwiRail, you'll be part of a team that delivers projects of national importance.
