Tenei turanga - About the Role :

The Our Future Services programme will deliver a cost-effective immigration system that is efficient and effective at managing immigration risk, and that provides a better experience for our customers and staff.

The programme will be delivered through multiple workstreams working in parallel, with each workstream implementing key initiatives with set milestone dates.

You will be part of the Programmes and Partnerships Branch within Corporate and Digital Shared Services.

As the Technical Lead you will play a key role in delivering technical improvements and enhancements within the Our Future Services programme reporting to the Head of Digital and Programmes - Immigration.

The Technical Lead role will work across all the Our Future Services workstreams that are engaged in the delivery of application changes within the Programme providing technical advice and guidance in line with the organisations agreed solutions architecture.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software, D365, Azure Native Services, and proficiency in programming languages (Java, Python, C#, JavaScript), software architecture, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.

This includes sound working knowledge and experience with Cloud IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS migrations.

Leading key inputs into the detailed design and development for systems integrations and provide strategic partners / vendors technical oversight.

Demonstrated experience as a technical lead or build engineer, with a strong track record in hands-on automation, continuous integration, and deployment practices.

Ideally supporting solution architecture.

Requires a confident and considered communicator who can engage effectively across diverse teams, guide technical conversations with focus, understand business context and foster alignment through clear, outcome-driven input.

Self-managing, with the ability to perform a range of tasks under competing demands, prioritise effectively and escalate issues accordingly.

Strong interpersonal skills, with clear evidence of influencing skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of people.

Inspire and guide development teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Able to swiftly identify and resolve technical issues with minimal disruption, while actively managing vendor relationships to ensure accountability, responsiveness, and timely resolution across all delivery streams.

Ability to build / maintain relationships and work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to achieve shared goals.

Able to translate intricate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights tailored to varied audiences, from delivery teams to executive stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding and informed decision-making.

Capable of interpreting complex operational signals and system behaviours, identifying root causes with precision, and supporting robust, scalable solutions that prevent recurrence and support continuous improvement.

Demonstrated experience in developing technical implementation plans and managing parallel delivery of complex initiatives.

You must be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident visa holder.
