About the Role

We have a permanent part time opportunity within our Southern team for a Registered Nurse, Sexual Health. You will practise independently and in collaboration with other health professionals, perform general nursing functions, delegate to and direct enrolled nurses and healthcare assistants and others. You will provide comprehensive assessments to develop, implement and evaluate an integrated plan of health care, and will learn to provide interventions that require substantial scientific and professional knowledge, skills and clinical decision making.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our Public Health Nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people\'s health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

As a successful candidate, you will show and understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and will be skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You will build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach –try new approaches, learn quickly, adapt fast. You will be able to utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope.

  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Hold a current Nursing Council of New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate
  • Current driver license with clean driving record
  • One year post registration experience
  • Current professional portfolio, or completion of same within 12 months
  • Advanced communication techniques such as conflict resolution, diffusion, and mediation skills
  • Demonstrate professional accountability within scope of practice
