Senior Domain Architect - (Data)

Randstad New Zealand is looking for an experienced Senior Domain Architect who will serve as the top Data expert within a large organisation. This high‑impact role involves providing strategic technical leadership of architecture across domains and influencing enterprise‑wide technology decisions.

About The Role

The architect will lead the Data Architecture Strategy for a major transformation program, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and standards. You will be a trusted adviser who champions data quality, governance, and ethical use, while driving innovation and mentoring data specialists.

24 months Fixed Term, Wellington based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the Data Architecture Strategy for large‑scale transformation initiatives.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and architectural oversight across the entire data lifecycle.
  • Establish and govern principles, standards, and models for data management, integration, platforms, and analytics.
  • Develop and refresh Data, Technology, and Capability Roadmaps, advising leaders on required solutions and projects.
  • Champion data quality, governance, and ethical use of data across the organisation.
  • Mentor and guide data architects and specialists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Skills & Experience

  • Solid architecture experience in large, complex organisations, preferably within large‑scale digital transformations.
  • Deep expertise in Data Architecture disciplines, including data platforms, governance, integration, and analytics.
  • Deep domain‑specific knowledge and best practices of data, such as Master Data Management and data integration.
  • Proven ability to lead the development of technology strategies, roadmaps, and architectural plans.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies, with experience working in Agile environments.
