Job Description
Imagine having a true work-life balance located in Otago.
This is a residential mining location near stunning scenery, offering opportunities for hiking, adventuring, fishing, and skiing in winter.
The role is based in Otago, with no FIFO requirements.
The role
Working with the Open Pit Maintenance team, the role involves safely and efficiently performing welding, general engineering, and fabrication work as required to repair and maintain machinery and ancillary plant / equipment.
The emphasis is on delivering a high level of professionalism and quality workmanship to ensure cost-effective maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections, monitor and record the condition of ground engaging tooling (G.E.T) and wear package materials on machinery attachments for all open pit mining equipment.
Maintain high levels of housekeeping at all facilities, equipment and company vehicles.
Identify and report parts, materials and other resources required to complete allocated tasks.
Carry out general welding repairs and light fabrication work on mining machinery and other plant and equipment as required.
Replacement of ground engaging tooling (G.E.T) as required.
Replacement of wear package material on machinery attachments.
Monitor and record wear rates of wear package materials on buckets, blades and bodies.
Assess, plan and supervise engineering projects to be completed by contractors.
Attend and assist with breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant as required.
Ensure all work is carried out safely at all times.
Qualifications
National Certificate in Engineering - Fabrication (Level 4) or similar.
3–5 years experience of heavy machinery repairs in mining or heavy industry.
Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
