Job description

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

As a Technical Support Analyst, you'll be hands-on in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising the business applications that underpin Health NZ's success. Working closely with your Team Lead, business stakeholders, and technical experts, you'll ensure our applications are reliable, efficient, and continuously improving. We're particularly seeking candidates with experience in the health sector, especially those who have worked with electronic medicines management systems or similar digital health applications. Your understanding of clinical workflows and medicines management processes will help you support users effectively and ensure our systems operate safely and smoothly. From resolving incidents and supporting users to enhancing system performance and collaborating with development teams, you'll be at the centre of delivering stable, effective solutions.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our Digital Applications & Products function is part of Digital Services and is at the heart of keeping Health NZ's applications & products connected, secure, and running smoothly. We focus on making applications simpler, more reliable, and better aligned to the needs of our people and patients. With dedicated teams structured around the applications and products they support, we deliver stability, faster improvements, and real value to clinicians, operational leaders, and end users nationwide. By working closely with our Digital Delivery function, we're ensuring digital services aren't just fit-for-purpose but truly enable better healthcare across Aotearoa.

About you

You're a natural problem-solver with a collaborative mindset and a strong focus on service. With hands-on experience in application support, you're confident working across systems and tools, building relationships, and driving positive outcomes.

  • 1–2 years' technical support or IT experience, with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience with service management systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) and remote support tools, ideally in healthcare
  • Experience working in the health sector, specifically with electronic medicines management systems or related digital health applications
  • Relevant IT qualification or certification (e.g., CompTIA A+), plus knowledge of operating systems, applications, networking, and IT security best practices
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in your work
