The Role
As our Group Accountant, you’ll lead the end‑to‑end accounting function—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity across all financial activity. You’ll manage the monthly reporting cycle, oversee payroll and tax compliance, and provide commercial insights that help drive operational and strategic decisions.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands‑on accounting and higher‑level analysis, and wants a role with autonomy, influence, and long‑term growth potential within the organisation.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Full preparation, posting, and review of financial documents and journal entries
- Ownership of the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are accurate, reconciled, and compliant
- Preparation and analysis of monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, KPI reporting, and consolidated group results
- Timely completion and lodging of all GST, PAYE, FBT, and tax obligations
- Management of weekly payroll (including leave, KiwiSaver, deductions, pay reviews)
- Oversight of accounts receivable—cash collection, credit control, and debtor follow‑up
- Budget preparation, cashflow forecasting, and variance analysis
- Partnering with the leadership team to provide financial insights and improve performance
- Liaising with auditors, external accountants, financial institutions, and the IRD
- Ensuring strong financial controls, process improvements, and compliance across the business
What You’ll Bring
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant, Group Accountant, or similar roleStrong working knowledge of NZ tax legislation, NZ IFRS, payroll, and statutory complianceProven experience preparing financial statements, consolidations, and tax returnsExceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and accountabilityAdvanced capability with accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, or similarAbility to independently manage deadlines and lead the finance function with confidenceClear, professional communication skills—able to translate financial data for non‑financial teamsTertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent (CA / CPA desirable but not essential)Why Join Us?
