Job description

Help shape the future of Aotearoa’s electrical industry. As an Electrical Tutor with Skills Group, you will coach, teach and inspire the next generation of electricians through high quality training, assessments and ongoing student support.

About the role

You will deliver approved electrical courses, facilitate practical learning, and guide students to achieve their qualifications. This role suits someone who enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting learners and contributing to a safe, positive and well equipped training environment.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver engaging electrical training in block course and day release formats
  • Assess student work, complete marking on time and use approved learning materials
  • Provide coaching, guidance and academic support to help learners succeed
  • Maintain a safe and well resourced training centre alongside the Learning Manager
  • Ensure all health and safety practices and reporting requirements are met

What you’ll bring

  • A current New Zealand Electrical Registration (Full Practising Licence, Inspector’s Licence or equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification)
  • Hold 4098 and unit standard 11551 or be working towards these (if you don't hold these or aren't working towards these we can support as part of your development)
  • Strong practical experience in the electrical industry
  • Ideally, experience in adult education or training (though we can support you in this area)
  • Strong communication and coaching skills, with a passion for developing others
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
