About the Role
Our Social Work team covers all areas of Older PersonsHealth and Rehabilitation based at Burwood Hospital.
We use a collaborative MDTapproach to working alongside individuals and their support networks to helpmanage changes in their physical and mental health.
Our Social Work team is part of a collaborative healthsystem, where everyone works together to achieve positive health outcomes forpatients, their families / whanau and communities.
We guide people to navigatethrough their health journey whether it be a chronic disability or a temporaryissue.

This role will be responsible for the day-to-dayprofessional leadership of the Social Workers in the Older Persons Healthinpatient wards at Burwood Hospital.
Your leadership skills will shine as youprovide professional guidance and supervision to clinicians and foster aculture of continuous learning and improvement.
Responsibilities
A clinical case load within Older PersonsHealth, taking responsibility for own clinical supervision, and fulfillingresponsibilities for own performance appraisal.
Working in partnership with the Social WorkClinical Manager to ensure the appropriate skill mix and number of staff tomeet current and future service demands.
Ensuring team members are informed of currentand new / revised Health New Zealand Social Work policies and procedures and obligationsto comply.
Assisting the Social Work Clinical Managerwith the recruitment, selection, induction, training and development,performance management, annual performance appraisals and supervision of the SocialWork workforce.
Supporting and assisting the Social WorkClinical Manager to undertake performance appraisals, coaching and mentoring ofdirect reports.
Ensuring legislative requirements are met inrelation to professional practice and registration of direct reports.
Ensuring professional supervision of directreports is undertaken as required by the profession and Health New ZealandCanterbury Supervision Policy.
Leading education and training initiativesfor our social work clinicians and play a crucial role in supporting andfacilitating projects that enhance the quality of care provided to our clients.
Working alongside our Hospital Leadershipteam, providing Social Work perspective and engaging in wider serviceimprovement and governance initiatives.
About You
CurrentNZ registration & APC
Bachelor'sDegree in Social Work
Minimum5 years of clinical work experience in Older Persons Health
Experiencein clinical teaching, supervision, and staff development
Experiencein quality improvement activities and policy development
Competencywith te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to startingyour journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Knowledgeof NZ Health & Disability sector standards and Privacy Act
FullDriver's licence
