Systems Administrator – Entry Level Role

About The Role

We have an opportunity at our Christchurch HQ for an entry‑level Systems Administrator. This full‑time role focuses on first‑line support and monitoring for our global customers via our 24×7 systems management service. You’ll support banks, ports, registries and other critical business systems. In this varied role your problem‑diagnosis and resolution skills will be fully utilised.

You will receive on‑the‑job training and supportive performance and development reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Issue Resolution

  • Monitor operator consoles and respond to system requests and messages within agreed timeframes.
  • Manage and follow‑up requests reported to the service desk to resolve any issues.
  • System Management

  • Ensure hardware / software applications and network components are operational, responding to any issues as they arise.
  • Control user log‑on and registration requirements.
  • Handle planned tasks while following detailed processes and documenting progress.
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the development of our operational procedures to ensure they are always up‑to‑date.
  • About You

  • Relevant IT qualification at Level 5 or above (e.g., Diploma in Information Technology).
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role — whether in IT support, hospitality, or retail — showing your ability to communicate and problem‑solve under pressure.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Server Operating Systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong communication and comprehension skills.
  • Genuine passion for customer service, with the ability to stay calm and professional in high‑pressure situations.
  • Proven ability to manage your workload effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Great time‑management skills and a proactive approach to your work.
  • Previous IT service desk experience is a plus.
  • Additional requirement : You must be available to work rostered rotating shifts to support our 24×7 customer‑service requirements.

    Note : Only applicants based in Christchurch, New Zealand with valid NZ working rights can be considered for this role.
