The core purpose of this role is to activate participation and education across Wellington and surrounding areas.

You will bring your community engagement experience to build and support relationships that enable and empower tangata whenua and diverse communities to understand, engage and participate in the democratic system such as Local Body Elections and General Elections

This role is Wellington based however applications from the Greater Wellington region and Manawatu will be considered.

This is a Grade 16 role with a salary band of $88,880 - $98,750 depending on relevant skills and experience of the candidate.

You are values driven and will have a good understanding of te reo Maori me ona tikanga.

Having strong connections to tangata whenua and experience working with a diverse range of communities will be an advantage.

You will build and maintain reciprocal relationships with tangata whenua and diverse communities while building sustainable working partnerships.

Te reo Maori would be an advantage.

You will participate in scoping, developing, implementing, and reporting on localised impactful community campaigns and activations.

You will utilise your can-do attitude to identify and respond to challenges and risks as they arise, work collaboratively with others in the Strategic Engagement and Partnerships (SEP) team across the country and actively contribute to all training and learning opportunities.

Developing and fostering relationships through internal and external engagement

With support, effectively and efficiently responding to public and media enquiries while maintaining political neutrality

Support the delivery of electoral events

Engaging with local community champions

Practice a continuous improvement approach

Contribute to the effectiveness and achievement of team and SEP goals

This role will be key in maintaining and developing community partnerships such as iwi, hapu, marae and with diverse communities and organisations.

Understand how to maintain political neutrality when working in the community

Experience in leading, developing and delivering community engagement initiatives across communities and regions

Ability to build knowledge of community and required networks

Experience in the delivery of operational policies and procedures based on legislation

Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure to meet deadlines

Ability to report on activities and results in a timely manner

Professional and results-oriented approach with good business and customer focus

Strong or established connections with tangata whenua and diverse communities.

A full driver's licence.

You must be legallyentitled to work in New Zealand.
