Senior Advisor - Early Years - Health Promotion - Nphs (Fixed Term)

About the Role

We have a fixed term opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join the Early Years team within the National Health Promotion team within NPHS.

The Early Years team work on a range of health promotion projects relating to maternal and childhood health and wellbeing. The team leads the implementation health promotion initiatives by planning and co-ordinating activities nationally in partnership with regional health promoters and their communities.

This role will have an emphasis on supporting our childhood immunisations programme.

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

As a Senior Advisor, you are confident working in a fast-paced environment and getting 'stuck in' with a range of work. You have proven experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice. We are looking for someone with :

• A relevant tertiary qualification, and a minimum of four years appropriate experience
• Experience in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into work
• A strong understanding of health inequalities and experience, knowledge and skills in relation to working with Maori and Pacific communities
• Ability to work in a culturally and ethically safe way with a range of communities and stakeholders
• Proven relationship management and influencing skills
• Some leadership experience, which may include having designed or managed a project of work
• Strong project management and administration skills, effectively coordinating multiple activities and ability to plan and monitor outcome achievement
• Written and oral communication skills
• Experience in, or a passion for maternal and child health or immunisations
