We provide Signals Intelligence and Cyber Security and resilience to organisations of national significance to successfully navigate in an unpredictable world.

The Technical Counter-Surveillance Unit is looking for someone to step into the role of Field Inspection Officer.

As a field inspection officer you will join a cross-functional team of security professionals to provide highly effective, professional technical counter-surveillance services, advice and guidance to the New Zealand Government, both domestically and internationally.

The Technical Counter-Surveillance Unit defends New Zealand from potential risks and emerging threats.

This role will see you travel domestically and internationally inspecting New Zealand Government facilities, as well as working in the office developing new technical solutions to counter those threats.

Our adversaries are often well-resourced, highly skilled, and good at concealment.

Our aim is to be than our adversaries.

To be successful in this role, you will be enthusiastic, and self-motivated.

You will also have :

  • Equivalent experience or a keen / active interest in a technical field such as;
  • Radio frequency engineering,
  • Wireless and / or Wi-Fi engineering or design,
  • Technical security,
  • Communications or telephony, or
  • Electrical or electronics work.
  • excellent communication skills
  • the ability to work both independently and in a team
  • sound judgement and problem-solving abilities
  • an enquiring mind and an eye for detail
  • a desire to learn

    For this recruitment round we are ideally looking for a Level 2 (Band H), however this is a multi-banded position, from G - I band, and we will welcome applications at all levels.

    Expected appointment ranges for this position :

  • Level 1 (Band G) : $87,048 - $92,851
  • Level 2 (Band H) : $103,009 - $109,876
  • Level 3 (Band I) : $120,359 - $128,383

    Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

    You must :

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
  • OR

    Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
  • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
