About Glenbrook Power Station
Located south of Auckland, New Zealand, Glenbrook Power Station is a co-generation facility seamlessly integrated with New Zealand Steel’s ironmaking plant. By utilising waste heat and byproduct gases from the ironmaking process, the station generates steam and electricity, meeting approximately 60% of the steel mill’s electricity needs. This innovative partnership significantly reduces reliance on the national electricity grid, displacing marginal fossil‑fuel generation and contributing to lower carbon emissions.
