Our Customer and Markets team focuses on the heart of our business – our clients. We provide leadership, advice and support to all levels of our organisation on best practice business development strategies and client engagement.

Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Advisor to join our Clients and Markets team. Reporting to the Regional BD Team Leader, you’ll work closely with the Southern Regional Manager, Client Leaders, Market leaders, and Client teams, as well as our Marketing and Business Development team members around New Zealand and Australia. It’s a team that works hard while staying true to our values of partnership, tenacity, enjoyment and care.

A key focus of this role is promoting business development best practice. You will be a confident presenter, facilitator and coach whom our local staff will look to as a credible source of guidance and support. You will also be responsible for managing pursuits and bids, which includes preparing and reviewing written technical information and the coordination of people. Your proactive attitude and strong commercial acumen will position you as a key advisor to the Regional Manager and Southern Leadership Team.

Based in our Christchurch office, we are looking for someone to add strategic value across the multiple geographies our Southern business operates in, including Dunedin, Queenstown and Central Otago. You’ll lead business development initiatives and activities that build a market profile, strengthen client relationships, and ultimately continue the success of our South Island business.

About You

  • Be tenacious, confident and a collaborative team player with a positive and proactive approach.
  • Have a commercial understanding of private sector business.
  • Exceptional facilitation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in promoting growth and executing market strategies by implementing tactical plans at the regional level.
  • Be up to date with market trends and proactively seek information to keep the business informed.
  • Understand and have experience in professional services and / or the engineering / construction industries.
  • Consistently deliver work on time and organise tasks to meet regional needs.
  • Have an understanding of the client perspective.
  • Ability to build rapport and credibility with stakeholders both internally and externally.
