Strategic Account Manager – New Zealand

The Strategic Account Manager builds business at allocated customers, seeks new business, and supports the overall New Zealand Business. Responsibilities include driving sales, throughput, and profitability; maintaining customer service standards; providing market insight and competitive intelligence; and creating and closing end‑user‑driven growth opportunities. The role requires a strong presence in the field to address customer and account management opportunities.

Account Management / Business Development

  • Responsible for all account activities related to allocated clients, cultivating relationships, identifying opportunities, and increasing sales.
  • Develop sales plans and budgets to achieve sales goals.
  • Support Business Leadership with major customers and build strategic objectives, including new product portfolio, pricing, and packaging innovations.
  • Contribute inputs to the country AOP for share gain and incremental growth.
  • Establish pricing programs and strategies; secure optimum product positioning within target accounts.
  • Uncover and assess customer needs and develop and execute value propositions.
  • Conduct regular scorecard reviews and coordinate LST and functional participation as appropriate.
  • Sell and negotiate supply agreements and value‑added services; manage price and mix when required.
  • Initiate problem solving for account issues.
  • Evaluate and negotiate commercial complaints as necessary.
  • Work with Marketing to plan and implement national sales programs.
  • Maintain accounts receivable, monitor, and take preventive or corrective actions.
  • Identify and lead commercial actions to uncover new growth opportunities at targeted end users.
  • Use Salesforce.com effectively for improved salesforce capability.

VOC for Customers

  • Understand and communicate customer and end‑user needs and wants, translating insight to action.
  • Identify medium / long‑term trends and investment plans that impact Avery Dennison.
  • Coordinate development of new solutions for customers based on strategic direction.
  • Maintain alignment with Service & Logistics and Customer Service on performance, quality, capacity, and satisfaction.
  • Ensure reliable sales and demand forecasts for supply chain and financial planning.
  • Source and communicate market perspective and competitive intelligence.
  • Navigate complex problems and structures to determine the best solutions for customer needs.
  • People Management / Development

  • Act as a leader within the NZ business, partnering with the NZ team to achieve individual and business goals.
  • Drive employee engagement and culture, assisting with coordination of staff events and activities.
  • Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Conduct, Ethics and Values.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of sales and / or account management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree desired but not essential.
  • Product and technical knowledge.
  • Industry, end‑user, and market knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in forecasting and meeting goals.
  • Current and relevant right to work in New Zealand.
