The Energy Markets Branch has a high priority work programme to ensure New Zealanders have secure, sustainable, and affordable energy.

Reporting to the Manager, Energy Use Policy of the Energy Markets branch, the Senior Business Analyst will bring their business understanding and perspective to support the development and implementation of the Consumer Data Right (CDR) regime within New Zealand’s energy sector by analysing business processes, data flows, and stakeholder requirements. The role will focus on enabling data-driven decision-making, improving process efficiency, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and technical frameworks.

We are keen to hear from you if you have :

  • 5+ years’ experience in business analysis, preferably within the energy or data governance sectors.
  • Experience with data analysis, process mapping, and CRM or ERP systems.
  • Experience of business analysis work including working with impact analysis, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience with business process design and analysis, preferably in government.
  • Understanding of New Zealand’s energy market and regulatory environment.
  • Experience with CDR, open data, or digital identity frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and documentation quality.
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Prerequisites :

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, Energy, or related field.
  • You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
