About the Role

The Fitter role is responsible for delivering mechanical engineering services across Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora sites within the Capital & Coast and Hutt Valley District (CCHV). This includes :

• Performing repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on mechanical plant and equipment systems throughout hospital facilities.
• Ensuring compliance with reactive and planned maintenance requirements.
• Maintaining a reliable, high-quality, and client-focused mechanical engineering service to support key health outcomes across all CCHV sites.
• Participating in the after-hours on-call roster as part of the trades team to provide urgent support when required

About the Team / Service Location

The Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG) team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system. Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.

About you

You will be a qualified mechanical trades professional with a NZ Trade Certificate in Fitting, Turning and / or Welding or refrigeration and have a clean New Zealand driver's license. You will bring proven experience in mechanical engineering maintenance, including boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems, and have strong technical skills in preventative maintenance and interpreting technical drawings.

You will be someone committed to service excellence, ethical workplace behaviour, and accurate data recording using CMMS systems. Your approach is innovative, proactive, and cost-conscious, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to change quickly.
